The Traditional Deans Victorian Awning

traditional awningBack in the 19th century, when Deans started, the traditional awning or shop blind was the only one available. The Victorian awning was a perfect product for the British weather and is still the only traditional sunblind that may be confidently used in all but the most severe weather conditions.

Deans Blinds still craft the wooden boxes for the Voctorian awnings in their Wandsworth capentry shop and they receive a finish comprising 5-coats of hand applied paint.

Our timber for the Victorian awnings comes from managed sources and only the most suitable grades are used. Special orders are taken for timber manufactured in specific woods if required.

Black iron arms are formed by hand in Deans workshop, to follow the contours of the building, and these link the Victorian blind to the wall via cast iron sockets called Cannons. The rollers contains steel springs of immense strength.

Having been here when Queen Victoria reigned Deans is the only blinds company that is still in business who can provide an authentic Victorian or Edwardian awning to complete the finishing touch to a serious restoration project on shop, restaurant or even a special private house.
